Introducing Izzy and her friend

This is Izzy, and yes — the colorful rainbow pup on a leash is 100% hers. While the black leather corset, delicate lace, fishnets, and heavy platform boots give off serious dark energy, we couldn’t help but bring her bright little companion along for the ride. There’s something so fun about the contrast: the edgy, powerful silhouette paired with a playful burst of color and personality. It’s my favorite kind of balance.

These looks are all about self-expression, breaking the norm and then laughing about it. The chains, the bold makeup, the commanding presence — they make us feel strong and unapologetic. But adding that whimsical touch? That’s the real Izzy personality shining through. Black on the outside does not always mean black on the inside. Life’s too short not to mix a little darkness with a whole lot of color and joy.

I’ve been loving watching Izzy own her alt/goth style lately. She walks into a room and immediately commands attention — the leather, the dramatic makeup, the boots that make every step feel powerful. But then she picks up this bright rainbow dog toy on a leash and suddenly the whole vibe flips into something joyful and completely unexpected. That contrast is pure magic.

There’s something really special about people who aren’t afraid to mix opposites. Izzy looks like she could star in a dark music video, yet she carries this colorful little pup everywhere like it’s the most natural thing in the world. It’s such a perfect representation of how we all are — layered, contradictory, and beautifully complex. We can be moody and mysterious one moment, and silly and full of light the next.

This photoshoot was so much fun because of that exact energy. We started with the serious, powerful shots — the intense stares, the dramatic poses, the full goth armor. But the second we added the rainbow pup, everything became lighter and more authentic. Izzy’s real personality came bursting through: confident, edgy, and secretly (or not so secretly) playful.

I think that’s why I love this kind of fashion so much. It gives us permission to be more than one thing. You can love black leather and fishnets and still adore bright rainbow colors. You can feel powerful and dark while also being soft and whimsical. Fashion becomes even more meaningful when it reflects all sides of who we are.

Izzy has this incredible ability to blend strength with sweetness. The heavy platform boots make her walk with purpose, but the rainbow pup on the leash makes her smile and laugh mid-pose. That balance feels very “us” — embracing the dark aesthetics we love while refusing to take ourselves too seriously. Life is better when you let both sides exist together.

These kinds of looks remind me that self-expression doesn’t have to fit in a neat little box. You don’t have to choose between being “goth” or “playful.” You can be both. You can wear the chains and the dramatic makeup, then go home and cuddle with the silliest, brightest stuffed animal. That mix is what makes people interesting and real.

I’m so grateful to have friends like Izzy who inspire me to step outside my usual pastel comfort zone and try bolder, darker looks. And I love that even in those darker aesthetics, we still bring our joy and humor with us. The rainbow pup is the perfect symbol for that — a burst of color that refuses to be hidden, no matter how black the outfit gets.
